Getting to know Nuovo IMAIE: through a few and simple sequences it’s possible to understand the role and tasks that the Institute carries out in compliance with article 7 of Italian law 100/10.
If you wish to specifically examine closely the institutional contents, check the main menu.
We are the institute that, by law, protects and distributes to artists neighbouring rights in Italy.

The neighbouring right is a right arising from the use of recordings of cinematographic, audiovisual or assimilated works or music works containing a performance by one or more artists
The neighbouring right is not the copyright (in Italy managed by SIAE), neither is it the image usage right (managed personally by artists). The neighbouring right is due to the individual that materially interprets or performs a role in a certain work, not to the individual that wrote it or conceived it or the individuals that appear in it unless they are also performers.
Nuovo IMAIE’s right holders are performing artists (or their heirs) that perform an important role in a reused work, accruing therefore a remuneration paid by Nuovo IMAIE

In a musical work right holder artists are: main artists, soloists, orchestra and choir conductors, orchestras or choirs with a proper noun.
In an audiovisual work right holder artists are: main and secondary actors, dubbers.
The following are not right holders: running musicians, session musicians, orchestra members, choir members, running actors or those with a non important role and walk-on actors.
Roles and functions of Nuovo IMAIE

Nuovo IMAIE collects rights due to artists, that originate from radio stations, television broadcasters (RAI, RTI, ….), from producers of support devices (cd, dvd, vhs, ….) and recording equipment (record players, CD burners, mp3, ….) and other users of protected artistic works
Nuovo IMAIE collects from the rest of the world the rights of artists that grant a mandate. Nuovo IMAIE collects these rights under the same conditions as for foreign artists and with no additional costs.
Nuovo IMAIE protects the entire category of performing artists, distributes their rights with transparency, and gives artists the opportunity to become a member by joining the Institute.
Registration is free of charge, does not impose any obligation and is independent from registration to other organizations such as SIAE, category Associations, Unions.
Registration to Nuovo IMAIE entitles one to participate in an active way to the decisions relative to one’s own remuneration through the vote and strengthens the contractual power of artists towards users (tv, radio, etc.)
